    Intruder shot, killed in Sedalia attempted burglary

    KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One man is dead after he broke into a Sedalia home near Anderson School Road and Shire Lane.

    The Pettis County Sheriff’s Office reports that deputies were dispatched for a single-vehicle accident near Anderson School Road and Shire Lane around 1 a.m. on August 30. While en route to the scene, they were notified of an ongoing burglary near the accident scene.

    One dead, KCPD investigating homicide east of 71 Highway

    When deputies arrived, they found the rear door of the home forcibly entered. The intruder had been shot by the homeowner; medics from Pettis County Ambulance District pronounced the man dead at the scene and took possession of the body.

    The names of all people involved have not yet been released. The investigation is ongoing.

    Maybe it will send a clear message about what can happen when you enter someone's locked domicile. We are supposed to be safe in our home with our loved ones. It is a shame it turned out this way but I am sure everyone stands in agreement that this homeowner did what he was put in a position to do by the victim.
