KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a female’s remains were found early on Wednesday morning.

Sheriff Darryl Forte posted on X that the remains were found at about 7:15 a.m. in the area of Blue Mills and Old Blue Mills roads. The area is near Little Blue Trace County Park and the endpoint for the north end of that trailhead.

FOX4 spoke with neighbors nearby the trail, and we were told this is something they’d least expect to happen there.

“I come down here and walk a lot in the mornings… so it’s kind of strange,” Jackson County resident Bill Burks said. “I hope they find out who it is.”

“Everyone seems friendly, I wouldn’t expect it,” Dylan Adkison, another Jackson County resident shared. “Hopefully they get justice.”

Details on who the victim is or what caused her death are unknown. It’s unclear how long she’d been here or her age.

If you know anything that will help with the investigation, call 816-541-8017.
