KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Next Monday, September 9, the KC Streetcar Riverfront Extension project team will be shutting down the Grand Boulevard Bridge from 2nd Street to Front Street.

The team, led by Radmacher Brothers Excavating (RBE), will be milling the bridge deck, installing expansion joints, preparing the bridge for track and more. According to KC Streetcar, the first phase of the closure will last around 45 days.

Following the track preparation work, Brandenburg Demolition will be removing a coal chute that conflicts with the extension. The chute is located just north of 2nd Street. This puts the entire closure at approximately 60 days, with weather and unforeseen circumstances pending.

KC Streetcar claims that during this closure, vehicular traffic from River Market to Berkley Riverfront will be directed to take Independence Avenue north of The Paseo, north to I-29 and then exit onto Front Street.
