KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Raytown teen faces multiple criminal charges, including second-degree murder, after shooting and killing a Kansas City man and injuring another person in May.

Court records said that on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, officers were dispatched to a home on the 11700 block of Corrington Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri on reports of a deadly shooting.

Upon arrival, officers found two people suffering from apparent gunshot wounds: a woman outside of the home, and a man, 23-year-old Prophet Thompson, inside.

The prosecutor’s office reported that during the investigations, video surveillance showed Cobbins firing multiple shots at the home, resulting in Thompson’s death and the woman being injured.

After the shooting, Cobbins fled the scene and went to Research Medical Center where he attempted to hide “multiple firearms” behind a rock wall across the street.

Cobbins is being held on no bond, however, a bond review is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 12.
