KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The AdventHealth Sports Park at Bluhawk and the Sports Facilities Companies announced the grand opening of a new facility on Saturday, Oct. 26.

The youth sports-focused facility, located near W. 162nd Street and Lowell Avenue in south Overland Park, has an NHL-regulated-sized ice rink, eight basketball courts (which can turn into 16 volleyball/pickleball courts), a 40,000-square-foot turf field, locker rooms, a training area, a café, a bar/grill, and more.

The family entertainment center will be home to arcade games, bowling, laser tag, an eSports center, sports simulators, and a roll glider.

The first phase of the $72 million massive youth sports complex is set to open in October.

A second phase, estimated to cost $32 million, would add four basketball courts, a second ice rink, and an additional turf field to the sports facility, increasing its total square footage by 170,000 square feet. Price Brothers did not share a construction timeline for the second phase.

After AdventHealth purchased the land from The Price Brothers in 2013, Bluhawk broke new ground with a vision of a best-in-the-league sports park coexisting with a lifestyle center.

While the sports facility attracts national and super-regional traffic for tournaments and events, the Bluhawk District also invites families to join a comprehensive, vibrant, live-work-play community with multi-family homes, office space, and healthcare facilities woven into the overall development.

The facility is anchored by The Boundary, the district’s entertainment zone, which includes retail, dining, hotels, a movie theater, green spaces, and more.
