KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Hy-Vee surprised a local Breakthrough family with a Chiefs away game day experience.

The Raiche family thought they were being treated to a dinner at the store when staff surprised the family with two game day tickets, airfare and a one night hotel stay for the November 17 game against the Buffalo Bills.

AJ Raiche was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of three and it has been a struggle since the diagnosis.

“We look over and see a whole crew of people coming over smiling faces we knew it was something good but I don’t think anyone was expecting what happened. Tickets to an away game to cheer for the Chiefs. We are all about home teams so this was just next level.”

AJ and his family immediately got involved with Breakthrough, formerly JDRF, participating in several neighborhood walks raising over $25,000.
