KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office announced that a De Soto High School student is currently in custody after they say the student threatened to kill another classmate on Tuesday.

According to deputies, a De Soto High School student, referred to as “student 1,” was allegedly “battered” by another student, referred to as “student 2.”

Following the alleged assault, deputies said student 1 posted on social media that they were going to kill student 2. The post included a picture of a handgun, and the threat was specifically targeted at student 2 alone.

Deputies with the sheriff’s office then contacted student 1 at his home and arrested him for criminal threats.

He is currently in custody at the Johnson County Juvenile Detention Center.

As for student 2, deputies said they were issued a “ Juvenile Notice To Appear” for misdemeanor battery.

both children need help aka counseling to redirect they're oftentimes misplaced anger bully #2 shouldn't have beaten #1 and #1 was pushed to his limit. #1 felt the need to protect himself. One of my children had similar issues while in middle school infact the bullie entered his school and threatened him in front of our home while I was at work thankfully my neighbors and the Superintendent got involved before it escalated to this type situation. At that time I had no clue my child was being bullied
