KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Kansas City man is facing charges connected to a burglary in the early morning hours of September 10 in the Waldo area of Kansas City, according to Jackson County Prosecutor Jean Peters Baker.

The Prosecutor’s Office claims that George Carter faces charges of second-degree burglary and first-degree property damage. These charges stem from an incident in which a Walgreens drugstore in the Waldo area was broken into.

According to court records, KCPD officers responded to the area of 75th and Wornall Road to reports of a prowler. Responding officers reportedly saw a black pickup facing north in the parking lot of the Walgreens.

Court records say that this pickup then fled the scene at a high rate of speed and that individuals were climbing through the front door of the store, which had been previously broken.

Witnesses are also saying that they saw these individuals leaving the store with trash bags full of what they believe to be prescription drugs.

While investigating and canvassing the scene, officers located and detained Carter. Officers also obtained a video from another incident on the same day, showing a man wearing the same clothes Carter was wearing, as well as the same black pickup.

This case remains under investigation, prosecutors have requested a bond of $50,000 cash.
