    Woman in custody following Topeka kidnapping, police pursuit on I-70

    KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One woman is in custody following a vehicle theft, kidnapping and police pursuit in Topeka.

    Topeka Police Department says that around 1:15 yesterday, September 11, officers responded to a reported vehicle theft at a BP gas station. The report claimed that the vehicle was stolen with a special needs adult female still inside the car.

    The suspect then reportedly fled eastbound on I-70.

    Authorities from the Kansas Highway Patrol located and attempted to stop the vehicle, to which the suspect continued to evade officers.

    The following pursuit ended near mile marker 225 as stop sticks were deployed and tactical vehicle intervention techniques were used. The suspect was detained and the female in the car was returned to her guardians.

    The suspect was arrested on charges of aggravated burglary, kidnapping, theft of a motor vehicle, aggravated battery, criminal damage to property, interference with LEO, theft (shoplifting) and theft from a motor vehicle.
