KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Chiefs are reuniting with running back Kareem Hunt after he worked out with the team on Tuesday.

They signed him to their practice squad the same day, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Hunt visited and worked out for the team.

He will look to fill in during Isiah Pacheco’s absence, who is expected to be out 6-8 weeks with a fractured fibula.

Hunt will likely be elevated from the practice and play in the next few weeks.

He spent two seasons with the Chiefs before he was released in 2018 after a videotape surfaced of him pushing a woman to the ground and kicking her. The woman allegedly called Hunt a racial slur.

Chiefs owner Clark Hunt said he released Kareem Hunt because he was not truthful when the Chiefs asked him what happened during the incident.

Hunt was very productive during his time in Kansas City, leading the league in rushing and earning a Pro Bowl nod during his rookie season. Before he was released, he was having another Pro Bowl caliber year, finishing with 824 yards on 181 carries and 14 total touchdowns.

The 29-year-old veteran finished last season with 411 yards on 135 carries with nine touchdowns in 15 games for the Cleveland Browns, whom he’s spent the last five seasons with.

He will look to provide a spark and prove he has something left in tank for a Chiefs running back room, that is currently without Pacheco and Clyde Edwards-Helaire.

The Chiefs are currently gearing up to head on the road this week to face the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday Night Football.
