Motorcyclist killed in I-435 crash near Blue Parkway

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One person is dead following a crash Tuesday afternoon in Kansas City, Missouri.

The crash was reported around 4:45 p.m. on Interstate 435 near Blue Parkway.

Police said a motorcyclist was traveling northbound on I-435 when he failed to negotiate the curvature in the roadway in the area of Blue Parkway. He then ran off the roadway and down a grassy median and was ejected off the motorcycle.

Kansas City police tell FOX4 the motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Debris from the motorcycle struck a red Toyota Camry and a red Subaru BRZ that were both traveling south on I-435.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

Multiple lanes of southbound I-435 were closed to traffic for approximately three hours and has since reopened.
