Crash on Grandview Road leaves one dead in Kansas City

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Police Department is investigating after a person was killed in a single-vehicle crash late Tuesday night.

According to KCPD, a Ford Focus was driving northbound on Grandview Road when, for unknown reasons, the car ran off the roadway and struck a raised sewer cover in front of a business.

The car then traveled westbound across the roadway into an empty parking lot before catching fire and coming to a rest.

KCPD said that after emergency responders arrived, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

This is fatality 69 compared to 65 at this time last year, according to KCPD.
