KANSAS CITY, Mo. — One Kansas City-area man is dead and another is seriously injured following a head-on crash Friday night in Johnson County, Missouri.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, a 45-year-old man from Mission Hills, Kansas was driving a Chevrolet Suburban on Highway 50 in the opposite lanes of traffic.

MSHP said this led him to cause a head-on crash with a Subaru Legacy, driven by 65-year-old Kevin Wilson of Lee’s Summit, Missouri.

The Johnson County Coroner pronounced Wilson dead just before 12:15 a.m., and the driver of the Suburban was taken to a hospital by emergency responders.

According to MSHP crash reports, the 45-year-old man driving the Suburban was arrested on suspicion of felony driving while intoxicated involving the death of another, driving in the wrong direction of a divided highway, and imprudent driving involving an accident.
