    Funeral plans announced for KCFD firefighter who died during training

    KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Funeral plans have been announced for 33-year-old Kansas City Fire Department firefighter Kyle Brinker, who died last week.

    The visitation for Brinker will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 25 from 12 to p.m. at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church. Following the visitation, the celebration of life will be from 2 to 4 p.m.

    The church is located at 1600 Rte 291 in Liberty, Missouri. Following the public service there will be a full procession.

    Brinker joined KCFD in 2013 and was an 11-year veteran, spending most of his career at Station 35, one of the busiest stations in Kansas City.

    Most recently, he was assigned to the Technical Rescue Division.

    He died after suffering a medical emergency during a training exercise last week.

    Brinker leaves behind a wife, his parents, a dog and a brother who currently serves as a KCFD firefighter.
