    Independence police looking for suspects in hit-and-run that injured man and dog

    KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Independence Police Department is hoping the public can help locate two suspects believed to be involved in a hit-and-run near 40 Highway and 36th Street.

    The incident was reported just after 10 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21. Officers located a man and his dog on the sidewalk.

    As of Wednesday, police say the victim is still in the ICU at a local hospital. The victim’s dog suffered a broken spine and had to be put down by a vet.

    The two suspects are believed to be a male and female, who stopped briefly before leaving the scene.

    The suspect vehicle is described as a Maroon 2000’s Chrysler 300 with a missing front bumper.
