KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Crime scene investigators are on the scene Thursday afternoon after a man was found unconscious near some railroad tracks in Kansas City, Kansas.

The Kansas City, Kansas Fire Department responded just after 2:40 p.m. to the area of S. 7th Street and Metropolitan Avenue.

A spokesperson with KCKFD tells FOX4 the conductor of a passing train noticed a van overturned on its side just east of the intersection and reported it.

When KCKFD crews arrived on scene they found a man unconscious and not breathing inside the van. He was removed from the vehicle and CPR was initiated. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

KCKFD said while they suspect a medical issue may have contributed to the incident, this has yet to be confirmed.

CSI is currently at the scene conducting an investigation before the van can be removed.

The train tracks will remain closed until the investigation and vehicle removal are complete, according to KCKFD.
