KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Pumpkin Spice, apple orchards and cooler weather. It’s not just the leaves changing colors but there will also be fall festivals happening throughout the Kansas City metro.
Here are some of the festivals you can look forward to:
Nelson-Atkins Museum launches second podcast series, “Art Bytes” Sept 28-29, Oct. 5-6 and Oct. 12-14
The Kansas City Renaissance Festival, a Kansas City Fall tradition, opens September 2nd and runs weekends through Oct. 15 in Bonner Springs.
The Kansas City Renaissance Festival is like walking through the gates of time to another age where guests from around the metro, the Midwest, the country and sometimes the world get a taste of 16th-century life.
- Sept 28-29 and Oct. 5-6: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Sept. 6-Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 – Dec. 29
This popular lantern festival returns to the Kansas City Zoo & Aquarium for the first year, but this time with a new theme, GloWild: Legends & Lore.
Explore two loops, one for unique adventures and another for enchanted fantasies.

Halloween Haunt is returning to Worlds of Fun this year! Last year, the event needed a separate ticket, but Worlds of Fun says this year, it’s included in your gate admission, or with a gold pass and above.
The park says the event is intense, and parental discretion is advised.

Sept. 27-28
The Fall Festival returns to Downtown Overland Park on September 27 and 28, 2024. Join us for a fun-filled extravaganza packed with live entertainment, friendly vendors and delicious festival food.
A free shuttle service is available from Young’s Pool to Downtown Overland Park. The shuttle runs every 15-20 minutes between 8 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on Saturday only. Riders will be dropped off at 80th and Conser.

Sept. 27-29
The festival has over 200 artists & vendors and two stages packed with entertainment from regional and local artists! Kids of all ages can play in the carnival. There will be shops with art, unique gifts, handmade quilts, jewelry, pottery, and treats for your furry friends.
Attendees can also enjoy a wide variety of food, from funnel cakes to turkey legs. You can also pick up fresh produce at the farmer’s market.

Louisburg Cider Mill brings you some good old-fashioned apple cider fun for two exciting weekends every autumn. Our Ciderfest is always held on the last weekend in September and the first weekend in October. There are no admission or parking fees to attend.

Oct. 4-5
KC Oktoberfest is a two-day celebration honoring real German-style beer, food, and entertainment at Crown Center in the middle of downtown Kansas City. It is presented and organized by Kansas City Bier Company, the city’s largest locally-owned brewery.

Oct. 5-6
For decades, Historic Weston’s Applefest has been the region’s biggest celebration, marking the harvest season and all things apple!
There will be an apple alley, apple treats, an apple-themed parade, and crafters and artisans. There will also be live music, an apple butter demonstration, kids’ games, entertainment and exhibits.

Explore the sights and sounds of the harvest season at this two-day festival, October 5 & 6.

Oct. 12
Enjoy an adults-only (ages 21+) evening of live music and a free sampling from more than 35 local breweries and wineries, plus food trucks available to tame your belly’s roar at Brew at the Zoo.
Each year, Brew at the Zoo features an animal that benefits from the Kansas City Zoo & Aquarium’s Conservation Fund. The fund is dedicated to preserving wildlife locally and globally.
- Saturday, Oct. 12: 6:30 to 11 p.m.
Oct. 5
The family-friendly event is free and has something for everyone, including scarecrow making, pumpkin decorating, a farmers market and seasonal displays.
Supplies and decorations will be free. The event is hosted in downtown Shawnee in the parking lot at City Hall.

Oct. 18-20
Kansas City’s downtown fall festival will fill the streets of the Kansas City Power & Light District in October.
The event is free to attend. Cornucopia features three days of carnival rides, pumpkin decorating, face painting, fall treats and many more festivities along Grand Blvd.

- Saturday, Oct. 19: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. All Ages; 7 to 11 p.m. 21+ only
