KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Missouri Department of Transportation Kansas City will hold a public meeting Tuesday night to gather information from the community for the “I-70 Environmental Assessment: I-435 and I-470.”

According to MoDOT, this is the first time feedback has been open to the public regarding issues and concerns with the I-70 corridor in Jackson County, between Manchester Trafficway/I-435 and I-470.

A news release said the project team is seeking community engagement to draft a “Purpose and Need” for upcoming projects on the corridor. These projects include improving safety, restoring and maintaining existing infrastructures, improving accessibility and reducing congestion.

“Since its original construction more than 50 years ago, I-70 has been a vital lifeline for moving people, goods and information across Missouri and beyond,” MoDOT Area Engineer Jill Bruss said. “This project is one of several which will modernize the I-70 corridor across the state.”

“Completing this environmental assessment will help provide feedback and recommendations as MoDOT KC evaluates issues, solutions, and future projects,” Bruss said.

The meeting will be held at the Mid-America Carpenters Regional Councill Hall, located at 8955 E. 38th Terr., on Tuesday from 4 to 6 p.m.

After the meeting, a self-guided virtual presentation, along with an online survey, will open on the MoDOT website. The deadline for the survey is November 4.
