(FOX40.COM) — The California Department of Fish and Wildlife recently announced it is accepting admissions for it’s annual Photo of the Year contest.

“Calling all Calling all California wildlife photographers!” CDFW said in part on social media . “Could your image be the 2024 Photo of the Year?”

The Wildlife Photo of the Year Contest celebrates California’s native wildlife in their natural habitat, according to CDFW. The contest is co-hosted by CDFW and California Watchable Wildlife . It is sponsored by the Sierra Nevada Conservancy , Out of This World Optics, Chirp Nature Centers , and the Abbey House Inn.

These are the animals in CA capable of causing human-wildlife conflicts

CDFW said winners of the contest will be announced in January 2025. Winners will “receive prizes from sponsors and will be presented with a resolution of recognition by their local legislator on the California Senate floor in Sacramento.”

Submissions are accepted bi-monthly from January – October, with three images selected each submission period to be included in the final judgment of Photo of the Year, according to the contest’s website . For more information about submission and guidelines visit: cawatchablewildlife.org .
