(FOX40.COM) — Sacramento’s long-running Chalk it Up! Festival is having its 34th annual edition the last weekend of August.

The free, 3-day long celebration will be over Labor Day weekend at Fremont Park in midtown Sacramento, celebrating chalk art from area artists.

The festival will have plenty of food, entertainment and vendors, but the highlight is the colorful works of art that are drawn on the sidewalk at the park during the three days.

While artists will use the sidewalk surrounding the park, visitors are welcome to make their own contributions to the pavement inside the park.

Admission to the festival is free, but drivers will have to pay at nearby lots or at the limited on-street parking meters. Cyclists can drop off their bicycles at the free bike valet (although tips are welcome) and users of SacRT can show this flyer to get to and from the event.

There are still opportunities to volunteer at the event or to sponsor an artist .
