(FOX40.COM) — Topgolf wants to hear from the community before the company undergoes further planning of its first Sacramento location.

“They really want to hear from the neighbors about what their thoughts were about bringing Topgolf to Natomas,” Sacramento City Council Member Karina Talamantes told FOX40.com. “I said the moment we tell the neighbors about it, everyone is going to get very excited and I expect but positive feedback.”

Topgolf is a popular chain of driving ranges that offers a mix of entertainment and dining where guests can hit golf balls from an elevated bay. The planned Natomas location could be a two-story venue with 80 bays, Talamantes said.

Natomas residents will get a chance to learn more about the project and offer feedback at an open house on Aug. 21. The open house is taking place from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Venture OfficeNow at 240 Venture Oaks Way #200.

At the open house, renderings and the proposed location will be shared along with giving residents the opportunity to ask Topgolf representatives questions or address any concerns they have. There won’t be a formal presentation, as the open house will allow the public to drop in anytime they want during the two-hour window.

Following the open house, Topgolf will look to incorporate public feedback before submitting a planning application to the city.

“Designs are ready to go, but the community feedback is important to Topgolf, which is why we’re having this community meeting prior to the application being submitted,” Talamantes said. “They really want to incorporate community feedback.”

Talamantes announced on social media on Monday that Topgolf was i n the “early stages” of planning a Natomas location.

The project has been “several years in the making” with discussions starting when State Sen. Angelique Ashby represented the area as a member of the Sacramento City Council. Conversations halted during the COVID-19 pandemic, Talamantes said.

The proposed Topgolf location is slated to be 58,000-square-feet and is expected to make a $15 million economic profit to the city. Talamantes said the planned site is slated to bring 150 construction jobs and over 250 ongoing jobs to Sacramento.

If built, Natomas would be home to the second Topgolf location in the Sacramento region. Roseville currently has the only Topgolf location in the area on 1700 Freedom way off Highway 65.

Topgolf’s only other Northern California location is in San Jose with another one planned south of San Francisco in Burlingame.
