(FOX40.COM) — A person was recently saved by Metro Fire personnel after they were stuck inside a burning building in Citrus Heights.

Metro Fire said on Thursday, crews arrived at a duplex fire in the area and received reports that a disabled person was still inside the residence.

“Crews aggressively pushed inside to fight the blaze and locate the victim,” Metro Fire said. Once the person was located, the agency said it managed to pull them out of the fire through an open window.

Metro Fire said crews were able to get the person to a burn center, adding they were critically injured but in stable condition. Firefighters also found another person who had their injuries treated at the scene along with a dog.

Video of the incident shows Metro Fire crews arriving at the scene, entering the window, and safely pulling the person out as flames consume the Citrus Heights duplex. Crews can also be heard communicating with one another in an intense, but controlled manner.

“Metro Fire operates at the highest level on well over 100,000 911 calls to help our community each year,” the agency said in a social media post. “It’s more important than ever to have a home fire escape plan that includes two ways out of every room and practice your plan monthly when you check your smoke alarms…If there is a fire and someone is known to be inside, relay their age, location, and any other pertinent information to our dispatchers so they can pass the intel to arriving crews. Be fire safe!”

    The incident remains under investigation.
