(FOX40.COM) — The Sacramento Police Department is offering the community a chance to exchange their guns for gift cards with no questions asked.

SPD said that on Sept. 21 it will host ‘Gift cards for Guns’ to get firearms off the streets.

Officers said they will accept “any functional firearm” and participants won’t be required to show identification.

To qualify, police said people must arrive in a vehicle and stay inside of it during the transaction.

Guns must be unloaded and locked in the trunk of the vehicle. Walk-ups will not be permitted, according to SPD.

The event is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Kinney Police Station, 3550 Marysville Boulevard. Gift cards are subject to availability and are limited to three firearms per adult.
