Sacramento police operation near Natomas yields guns, 100 pounds of marijuana, cash and more

(FOX40.COM) — An operation recently conducted by the Sacramento Police Department near North Natomas led to the discovery of guns, jewelry, marijuana, mushrooms, and over $50,000 in cash, the agency said.

Over the past several months, Sacramento police officers were asked to investigate several individuals “believed to be involved in illegal activities” on Highport Drive, about 5 miles northwest of North Natomas.

“[On Thursday] morning, with the assistance of our Problem Oriented Policing (POP) and SWAT teams, officers served the search warrant and safely took four individuals into custody,” police said. “During the search warrant officers recovered two pistol grip AK-47’s, one 9mm handgun, $100,000 in jewelry, $60,000 in cash, 100 pounds of marijuana, and 20 pounds of psilocybin mushrooms.”

Two men from Sacramento, aged 26 and 24, were arrested for possession for sales, delaying/obstruction of a peace officer, and firearms related charges.

A 21-year-old man from Hayward and a 28-year-old man from San Leandro were arrested for possession for sales, and delaying/obstruction of a peace officer charges.

All four suspects were booked at the Sacramento County Main Jail, police said.

“This is another example of the dedication by the officers of the Sacramento Police Department who remain relentless in their investigations to make our community a safer place for all.”
