    Hit-and-run suspect accused of killing a 74-year-old man in Stanislaus County arrested

    (FOX40.COM) — A man accused of fatally hitting a bicyclist with his Jeep Wrangler and fleeing the scene on Friday morning was arrested, according to the Ceres Police Department .

    At around 11:10 a.m., CPD said it responded to a report of a hit-and-run on the Pine Street overpass. Officers said they arrived to the scene and found a bicyclist in critical condition. They provided him with first aid before he was transported a local hospital where he died.

    Officials said a black Jeep Wrangler or similar vehicle driven by an “older” man was seen around the crash area. On Saturday morning, CPD pulled over a 73-year-old man in a Jeep and determined he was a suspect in the hit-and-run case. He was subsequently arrested.

    The incident remains under investigation and law enforcement advised anyone with related information or security camera footage to contact Officer Vandagriff at 209-538-5678 or at Krandall.vandagriff@ci.ceres.ca.us.     That is just horrible! I'm so sorry for this man's family. Why didn't you post the name person who hit him? Usually when the subject is Hispanic or black you post their names in big bold letters ! I'm just saying!!!
