(FOX40.COM) — On Saturday afternoon, unseasonal weather conditions made it look like Christmas in parts of the Sierra as storms soaked parts of the Sacramento Valley.

According to the National Weather Service, a large storm band made its way across Northern California on Saturday.

Radar imagery shows the large weather system moving from northwest California and directly east towards Redding, Chico, Placer County, Nevada County, the Sierra foothills and eventually Reno, NV.

A flurry of snow and rain mixture in the Sierra was reported in higher elevations, including Donner Summit.

Palisades Tahoe shared videos of the snow flurries that hit the higher elevations of the ski resort.

This snow marks the first snowfall of the second half of 2024 and comes just a few months after Sierra ski resorts closed for the 2023-24 ski season.

In Roseville, heavy rains caused leaves, landscaping bark and tree branches to block and clog storm drains, causing major localized flooding in some areas.

The South Placer Fire District responded to a shopping center at the intersection of Douglas Boulevard and Sierra College Boulevard after bark clogged the storm drain causing portions of the parking lot to be flooded with up to two feet of water.

Hail, high winds, lightning and thunder rolled through Placer County and other areas of the foothills.

NWS Sacramento reported that between .52 inches and 1.06 inches of rain fell across Placer County.

After the waters had drained, landscaping in some areas could be seen with major damage and roadways were covered in dirt.
