(FOX40.COM) — A man was arrested after threatening to shoot four children walking to school Tuesday morning, the Fairfield Police Department said.

According to police, around 9:18 a.m., the Grange Middle School students told their school resource officer that the man had threatened them while they were off campus.

Police said the officer located the man driving in front of the school in the same vehicle described by the students and wearing the same clothes.

The man was arrested and booked into Solano County Jail on four counts of terrorist threats and one count of resisting/obstructing a peace officer.

The Fairfield Police Department encouraged parents to remind students to stay alert, never engage with strangers and to adopt a buddy system for walking to school.
