Tuolumne County human remains discovery possibly connected to missing persons case

(FOX40.COM) — The discovery of human remains in Tuolumne County on Thursday may lead to a development in a months-long missing person case, according to the Tuolumne County Sheriff’s Office.

At 7:15 p.m., a dirt biker spotted the remains in the Stanislaus River Canyon off of Keltz Mine Road.

Immediate recovery of the remains by the sheriff’s office was held off due to the location’s challenging terrain and the continuing loss of daylight.

Returning on Friday morning, search and rescue personnel and detectives made their way to the body where detectives were able to confirm the remains were human.

After collecting the bones and processing the scene, detectives also collected clothing and electronic devices from the scene.

Detectives are working to determine if these remains have any connection to the disappearances of Ronnie Henley and Ronnie Duncan.

Henley was reported missing on April 24 by his friends to the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office.

He was last seen at the end of March with Duncan in a truck headed to a property Henley had bought in Jupiter.

On June 21, a truck associated with the two men was located three miles from where the bones were found along Forest Road 3N11.

Search and rescue personnel are planning to return to the location where the bones were discovered to scan the area for any more evidence connected to the missing person’s case.
