    New banners on Sacramento’s J Street promote rail safety

    (FOX40.COM) — The Midtown Association wants to remind people to be safe around the various train and light rail tracks that run through central Sacramento.

    The group partnered with Union Pacific to put up 37 banners along J Street to promote rail safety as part of California Rail Safety Month.

    According to the association, an estimated 17,000 drivers use J Street daily.

    According to data from the Federal Railway Association, there were 172 highway-rail grade crossing collisions in California in 2023, which resulted in 75 injuries and 38 deaths.
