    CAL FIRE Placer-Nevada mourns loss of firefighter

    (FOX40.COM) — The CAL FIRE Nevada-Yuba-Placer Unit is mourning the loss of one of their firefighters who died during an off-duty accident, according to CAL FIRE.

    On Friday, the unit shared that Fire Apparatus Engineer Jacob “Jake” Hainey died on Thursday in a vehicle accident.

    Hainey leaves behind his wife and two daughters .

    According to CAL FIRE NEU, Hainey is the third CAL FIRE firefighter to die in one week including Fire Captain Christensen of CAL FIRE/Riverside County Fire Department and Fire Apparatus Engineer Christopher Ward of CAL FIRE San Benito-Monterey Unit.
