(FOX40.COM) — A Yuba County man was sentenced to 12 years and four months in state prison over threats he made against various people over three years, the Yuba County District Attorney’s Office said.

The 56-year-old Brown Valley man initially came to authorities’ attention in 2022 after leaving multiple voice messages for his daughter’s high school softball coaches.

According to the DA’s office, the threats had racist overtones and were specific enough that the coaches believed them.

After the man was arrested one of his daughter’s friends said he had also threatened to kill him in 2021 over a “dispute involving a vehicle,” the district attorney’s office said.

According to the DA’s office, the man “fixated” on one of the officers involved in his arrest and would drive by his home and stare at him. In May 2023, the officer was in his front yard when the man yelled that he was going to kill him and his wife.
