(FOX40.COM) — A Modesto area school has been given the all-clear after being searched for a reported explosive device on the campus on Thursday, according to Modesto City Schools.

“I’m very glad to let you know that the Modesto Police Department has just given us the all-clear to resume the school day at Modesto High School,” the district wrote in a news release. “After a thorough search, police officers did not locate any form of explosive on our campus.”

Students were allowed back on campus at 11 a.m. after being evacuated from the campus at around 8 a.m.

Despite the lengthy delay to the school day, students will be dismissed at their usual time.

“I want to thank you for your cooperation and patience today,” the district wrote. “This incident caused significant disruption to Modesto High School and to families today, and we appreciate your help in keeping our students and staff safe.”
