(FOX40.COM) — A follow-up to a Child Protective Services request led to the discovery of several illegal firearms in a San Joaquin County home, according to the Lathrop Police Department.

On Thursday, LPD officers were dispatched to a residence in Lathrop after a tip from CPS. A K9 named Duke helped police locate several illegal firearms and ammunition inside the residence, according to LPD. During the investigation, officials said there was a heavy police presence near Mossdale Elementary School, however, there were no outstanding suspects or threats to the public.
