(FOX40.COM) — A police chase through Stanislaus County led to several arrests and the discovery of a sawed-off shotgun.

Around 2:18 a.m. on Sunday, Ceres Police Officers located a gray 2017 Kia Sportage that was reported stolen in the area of 10th Street and Whitmore Avenue. Officers said they attempted to pull over the vehicle at the intersection of Whitmore Avenue and Mitchell Road, however, the stolen car failed to yield. The failure to stop led to a police chase through Ceres.

During the pursuit, CPD said the occupants threw a loaded sawed-off shotgun from the vehicle. One of the pursuing officers stopped to recover the firearm. To “bring the dangerous pursuit to an end,” CPD executed a PIT maneuver that disabled the stolen vehicle.

All of the vehicle’s occupants were arrested and at least one of them was a gang member, according to CPD. They were booked into the Stanislaus County Jail.
