DAVIS, Calif. (KTXL) – Three days ago, an executive committee called the “SAC 12” was formed with one goal: to campaign for Sacramento State to join the Pac-12 conference.

That conference, which currently has two members (Oregon State and Washington State), announced last week that it is adding four new members beginning in 2026: Boise State, Colorado State, Fresno State and San Diego State.

“Personally, being a San Diego kid, happy to see San Diego State get a chance to do that. Obviously working at Boise State, knowing (head coach) Spencer (Danielson) and (Director of Athletics) Jeramiah (Dickey), I’m sure they’re really excited about that,” said Tim Plough, the head coach at UC Davis who was Boise State’s offensive coordinator for two seasons (2021-2022).

“I think that’s great that those teams get a chance to do that. And I’m a Pac-12 guy, so I hope that at the end of this whole thing that we’re able to get that Pac-12 conference again because as a football fan, that’s what I’d like to see. But as for the Ags, probably more worried about Utah Tech than the SAC 12.”

UC Davis (2-1) hosts Utah Tech (0-3) on Saturday at 7pm at UC Davis Health Stadium.
