(FOX40.COM) — A Placer County jury handed down a guilty verdict in the county’s first fentanyl-related murder jury trial, according to the Placer County District Attorney’s Office.

In February 2022, the district attorney’s office filed charges against Carson Schewe, 23, for murder and possession of a controlled substance for sale concerning the 2021 death of Kade Webb, 20.

Schewe has been convicted of knowingly selling a pill laced with fentanyl to Webb that he then crushed and snorted in a grocery bathroom in Roseville, according to prosecutors.

Webb was later found dead in the bathroom.

Schewe is scheduled to appear for sentencing on Dec. 5.
