(FOX40.COM) — Padel players in the Sacramento area will soon have a new place to show off their skills after the announcement of new courts that will be built in West Sacramento along the riverbank.

Park Padel , a company that has courts in San Francisco and is working on opening a location in South San Francisco, is hoping to open its facility in West Sacramento’s Bridge District by November, according to CEO Jessica Talbert.

The sport combines aspects of tennis, squash and pickleball and it originated in Mexico before spreading to other countries.

“We saw people playing in Spain and other parts of Europe and the players would socialize afterward, and we want to bring that type of community to our locations,” Talbert said to FOX40.com.

At Park Padel’s West Sacramento location, there will be four outdoor courts and a lounge area for players to socialize, with some refreshments and snacks available from Drake’s The Barn nearby.

Along West Sacramento’s riverfront, there’s been a lot of activity ahead of the Athletics’ temporary move to Sutter Health Park, but Talbert said the plans for the courts started before that was announced.

“The developer was looking for a recreational partner for the space,” Talbert said, adding that padel is an easy and inclusive sport. “Come try it out and get a chance to be athletic and social.”
