(FOX40.COM) — The return of rain to the Lake Tahoe region on Wednesday created slick surfaces on Interstate 80 that caused to semi-truck drivers to crash their rigs, according to the California Highway Patrol.

On Wednesday, officers responded to eastbound I-80 at Floriston and eastbound I-80 at Soda Springs for separate solo semi-truck crashes.

Each crash resulted in minor to no injuries for the drivers, according to CHP Truckee.

Images from the first reported crash at Soda Springs show significant damage to the entire truck as it appears to have crashed into a guardrail along the highway and coming to rest facing the wrong direction.

The crash at Floriston also had significant damage to the truck as it came to rest mounted onto one of the several feet thick concrete barriers along the interstate.

The National Weather Service is forecasting that there is a 20 to 40 percent chance of thunderstorms in the Sierra and foothills on Thursday.

GET YOUR STORY RIGHT! THIS WAS A FREAK HAIL STORM as we were in it, roads were super slick and these 2 fools sped past us with about 2” of hail on the ground. WE pulled over and waited it out, I have pictures of our RV and My car with so much hail on them. A lady on a motorcycle was coming down the off ramp where we were all waiting it out, and the motorcycle slid down to the ground and she slid off. We helped her up… It wasn’t just rain, it was a bad hail storm….it was scary AF! I have pictures too! This truck was driving way too fast for the conditions. Both trucks!
