(FOX40.COM) — A man riding an electric bike died after a crash with a pickup truck in Orangevale on Thursday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The agency said the crash happened around 4:28 p.m. at the intersection of Beech and Elm Avenues, just west of Hazel Avenue.

California CCW holders no longer prohibited from several public locations

The CHP said the cyclist was riding south on Beech Avenue at the same time that a Chevy pickup was heading east on Elm Avenue, and both crashed within the intersection.

In that area, Beech Avenue has bike lanes on both sides of the road and Elm Avenue does not have bike lanes, but the CHP did not specify the circumstances of the crash.

The man on the bike died of his injuries and the driver of the truck was unharmed. The CHP said alcohol or drugs are not believed to have contributed to the crash.
