Brother and sister arrested in connection to 2021 North Highlands homicide

(FOX40.COM) — Two people have been arrested in connection with a 2021 homicide that happened in North Highlands, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office said.

The sheriff’s office said that detectives arrested a brother and sister in connection with the shooting death of Wayne Blanchard, as well as the attempted homicide of his girlfriend.

The sheriff’s office said that a third suspect, the sister’s then-boyfriend “died in an unrelated incident in Washington.”

On June 21, 2021, a deputy responding to a shooting at an apartment complex on Oakhollow Drive found Blanchard’s body as well as his girlfriend, who had also been shot.

According to the sheriff’s office, the male suspect was arrested in Riverside County on September 20 and is awaiting extradition to Sacramento County.

The sheriff’s office said the female suspect was arrested later the same day in Sacramento.
