(FOX40.COM) — The West Sacramento Fire Department is mourning the loss of a fire engineer who died in the line of duty Monday morning.

“It is with great sadness that we report West Sacramento Fire Department Fire Engineer Tim Hall, an 18-year veteran with the West Sacramento Fire Department (WSFD) died this morning in the line of duty during a training exercise,” the agency said on social media.

WSFD said Hall, 59, was a graduate of the 2006 Sacramento Regional Fire Academy. He was also an active volunteer with Clarksburg Fire Protection District.

“Our fire department is heartbroken,” said WSFD Chief Steve Binns. “Engineer Hall loved this City and bravely served to protect our community.”

While with WSFD, Hall was a fire investigator, an active member of Urban Search and Rescue Task Force 7, and a Fire Engineer.
