(FOX40.COM) — It is not uncommon for Sacramento to experience 100°F days, but it is more common than ever in 2024, according to recent reports.

FOX40 Chief Meteorologist Adam Epstein shared that Sacramento, Stockton and Modesto set new records for the most 100°F days in a year.

On average Sacramento sees about 23 days where temperatures reach at least 100°F. In 2022, the record amount of 100°F days was set at 44.

According to Epstein, Sacramento has recorded 45 100°F days with more hot weather forecast for the region.

Are the 100-degree days over in Sacramento?

Stockton sees an average of 19 days of 100°F each year and set a record high amount of 40 days of 100°F in 2022.

This record has also been broken with Stockton recording 41 days of 100°F in 2024.

Modesto broke their 2017 record of 36 100°F days this year by recording 42 days of temperatures reaching 100°F.

The heat is not over for the Sacramento and San Joaquin valley though, according to the National Weather Service.

Through Oct. 1, the foothills to the valley are expected to see daytime highs reach into the mid-80s and up to the high 90s.

The northern Sacramento Valley has some of the greatest chances of seeing temperatures creep into the 100s.
