(FOX40.COM) — Two minors were arrested after allegedly leading deputies on a short pursuit and having an illegal firearm, the San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday.

The agency said that around 10:35 a.m. a deputy attempted to stop a vehicle that had a flat tire and was driving on its rim near the northern boundary of the city of Stockton.

The driver did not stop and led the patrol vehicle on a brief pursuit before the deputy used “legal intervention” to bring the minors’ vehicle to a stop near West and Hammer Lanes.

An illegal firearm was in the passenger seat of the vehicle, which was stolen but had not been reported yet, the sheriff’s office said.

Pictures shared by the agency show a white sedan with heavy damage to its front left area and the ignition panel missing.

Both the driver and passenger were found to be minors and were detained on charges of possession of a firearm by a minor, possession of ammunition by a minor, felony evading, possession of stolen property and having a concealed firearm in a vehicle, the sheriff’s office said.
