(FOX40.COM) — This year’s ‘Panteón de Sacramento’ celebration will fall precisely over the weekend that the Mexican Day of the Dead is observed.

The Panteón is returning for its 15th year to the Latino Center of Art and Culture from Friday to Sunday, November 1-3. The traditional Day of the Dead is observed from Nov. 1-2.

Over the three days, the center fills with performances and art, along with a vendor and food market, but the main attraction is the dozens of ofrendas —altars to those from the community who have passed.

The colorful displays tell the stories of the departed through personal mementos and items that they enjoyed in life.

The center is accepting applications for an altar space , although it says that these will be in high demand. There is another option to obtain a grave site at a recreated cemetery on the grounds that will contain smaller altars.

Vendors of arts and crafts can also apply for a space at the Panteón, and volunteers can sign up at this link .

The three-day event is free to enter and will be open at the following times:
    Friday, November 1, 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.
    Saturday, November 2, 12 p.m. – 10 p.m.
    Sunday, November 3, 12 p.m. – 4 p.m.

The Latino Center of Art and Culture is located at 2700 Front St. in Sacramento, and free parking will be available at 2300 Front St.
