    Wildland fire in Amador County prompts evacuations

    (FOX40.COM) — A wildland fire named the Tiger Fire in a remote area of Amador County prompted evacuations of several communities on Monday afternoon.

    Evacuation orders were issued for the area near Tiger Creek Road, including the Silver Drive community, and parts of the communities of Barton and Buckhorn.

    The area is about 20 miles east of Jackson and about 65 southeast of Sacramento. CAL FIRE reported the fire around 2:30 p.m. As of 5 p.m., the fire was about 4 acres in size.

    Evacuation Centers

    According to the Amador County Sheriff’s Office, a Red Cross Shelter was opened at the Senior Center in Jackson, at 229 New York Ranch Road .

    CAL FIRE’s Amador-El Dorado Unit said a large animal evacuation center was established in the city of Jackson at Laughton Ranch, 90 Clinton Road . Residents can call the center at 209-419-2000.

    CAL FIRE said smaller animals can be taken to the Amador County Fairgrounds at 18621 Sherwood St. in Plymouth , where the county’s Animal Rescue Team can provide assistance.

    Around 6:45 p.m., all evacuation orders were lifted.
