(FOX40.COM) — Two pedestrians died in separate collisions with vehicles just hours apart in Fairfield, the Fairfield Police Department said.

The first collision happened Wednesday night off East Travis Boulevard near Eisenhower Street.

The second collision happened Thursday morning near Sunset Avenue and Daniel Street.

Stolen vehicle pursuit ends in crash in San Joaquin County

The deaths come roughly a week after two other incidents in Fairfield in which pedestrians were struck by vehicles.

On Sept. 24 a pregnant woman crossing East Tabor Avenue near Manor Avenue with her toddler was hit by a vehicle.

The woman went into the hospital in critical condition and lost her unborn child. The toddler sustained minor injuries.

The next day a woman crossing Waterman Boulevard was fatally struck by a vehicle.

the problem is jaywalkers expecting the driver to yield most of the time they do. however some are distracted and unable to stop. flesh and steel don't mix.
