(FOX40.COM) — Adventist Rideout in Marysville has closed its doors to visitors amid safety concerns within the facility. The closure is expected to be active at least through the weekend.

“Effective immediately, and continuing until further notice, visitor access to our hospital has been temporarily suspended,” the hospital said in a statement around 3 p.m. on Friday. “This is not related to an outbreak of any kind.”

Several Yuba-Sutter residents have reported that they are unable to visit their loved ones who are patients at Adventist. The hospital did not specify any threats. At around 8 p.m. Adventist announced visitation exceptions for pediatric patients, individuals with a disability or
cognitive impairment, end of life, labor, postpartum, and NICU. Other exceptions will be considered on a case-by-case basis, at the discretion of hospital leaders.

“The decision to temporarily restrict visitor access was not made lightly and with careful consideration,” Adventist said. “We are collaborating with law enforcement and are confident that our campus is safe, but out of an abundance of caution, we are currently controlling hospital access into our facility.”

People in need of medical or emergency care will still have access to the hospital.

Adventist added, “The health, well-being, and safety of our patients and staff is our highest priority. At this time, we are unable to provide any further details. We will provide an update on visitation on Monday, October 7.”

Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
