(FOX40.COM) — Two Sutter County schools were temporarily locked down after an armed suspect was reported to be in the area, according to the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office.

Around noon, SCSO received a call about a person who was struggling with their mental health. Deputies said they were told the person was also armed with a gun. The suspect’s location and nature of the call prompted Brittan Elementary and Sutter High School in Yuba City to go on an “immediate lockdown,” according to SCSO.

Deputies said the suspect was near, not at, the schools. Upon arrival at the scene, the sheriff’s office said it quickly arrested the person.
