(FOX40.COM) — A dog that went missing after being involved in a collision last month was reunited with her owner Tuesday.

Owner J.R. Sparks said his 3-year-old pitbull Akemi ran away after the passenger door was opened following an accident at the intersection of Woodland Avenue and Ashley Avenue on Sept. 26.

Sparks broke his leg during the collision and spent three days in the hospital to recover after which he began looking for his dog.

Sparks received help in his search from Crash Fund Inc., a non-profit animal rescue group.

Akemi was spotted a few times around the same area of the crash including at least once on a Ring camera.

On Tuesday, Akemi was found in a garage on Road 98 and reunited with her owner.
