SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KTXL) – The Sacramento Kings played the first of five preseason games on Wednesday night, hosting the Golden State Warriors at Golden 1 Center.

The Warriors won, 122-112, but they did not spoil the debut of DeMar DeRozan.

DeRozan, the six-time NBA all-star who joined the Kings in July, received a loud ovation when he was introduced to his new home crowd for the first time. He then went out and scored 15 points in 15 minutes, making all six shots from the field and both of his free throw attempts.

“I worked my butt off this summer, man. More than ever,” said DeRozan. “And just coming into this training camp, working my butt off. But I just wanted to come ready where guys could count on me to just come out and compete.”

Mike Brown played 16 players on Wednesday night, and DeRozan led all of them in scoring.

The leading scorer in the game was Buddy Hield, a former Sacramento King and now a Golden State Warrior. He had 22 points in 19 minutes for his new team.

Sacramento and Golden State will meet again on Friday at Chase Center in San Francisco.
